11.10.09

...is now 11.13.09! Baby C has made his debut weighing in at 8 lbs 7 oz. and standing tall at 21 inches! He has a full head of hair, chubby thighs and long toes attached to giant feet! It's cliche, but what they say is true... it's worth every ounce of the pain! I'm pretty sure in the middle of it all I was ready to just leave him in my belly! Now, I couldn't imagine him being anywhere else, but snuggled up in my arms!

Well...

...it's still a little early... but the contractions are REAL!!! Of course, I know that they can still go away, but it's been 3 hours.... here's to hoping for an outside baby soon!

40 weeks...

...and, you guessed it... nothing!!! But I do have oh, so attractive pictures of what a woman who should've had a baby today looks like... and, I can tell you are so excited to see them!! Also, for anyone who is dying to know... the belly button is ...well.... Do you remember that song from Sunday School? Sing a-long with me- "When you're up, you're up. And when you're down, you're down. And when you're only 1/2 way up, you're neither up nor down"? Well, that's my belly button. Just insert the words "in" and "out" for "up" and "down".

I called my mom today... she answered with "Is it time, yet?"! I guess I should now reduce the frequency of my calls to only when it's time!

39 weeks...

... and a big fat "you got nothin', girl" from the Doctor! So, it looks like Baby C is as cozy as a clam in a coconut cocoon (and I think he doesn't want to come out now because his mother doesn't know if she is spelling the word cocoon right. And, who wants a mother that can't spell to teach him how to speak and write?!?!?)!

More pics!

DH has fun taking pictures, and I think my brother inspires him! We are both completely jealous of his talent, even though it's not good to be jealous of others!!! So, for your viewing pleasure, and because it's raining outside (and I don't want to clean the house)... more 38 week pictures!

38 weeks....

...and I'm pretty sure the kid will stay put until Thanksgiving! I don't blame him, though... Come out only when his grandma makes some pecan pie, because that's his dad's favorite, too! So, needless to say there's not much change in status from last week's Dr. visit.. a little progress, but nothing noteworthy. I thought he had dropped, but the next day he was back up into my ribs! At least he's not so high that I can't breathe. DH wanted to take some pics with the leaves outside. I think we may re-do the photo shoot today, so I can wear a nicer shirt and maybe fix my hair a little! It was fun, but I don't think modeling is in my future!

Baby C is a little camera shy, but we did catch some movement. Although he was moving more before we turned the video on! There's really only noticable movement right at the beginning. Excuse the ironing board in the background! I'm trying to make a Christmas present for my niece, but it's slow going! Warning... it's a bare belly!

37 weeks =

...full term baby!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, October 16, 2009

Warning bare belly below! And, did you know....

That Baby C will be here before the next five weeks are up (assuming they don't let me go past 42 weeks)?!?!? So, you'd think by now that I would have prepared myself for this... I mean I've only been pg for the better part of 2009! Don't get me wrong, I've been doing stuff to get ready, but knowing that he can make his grand entrance into this world anytime after next Tuesday (when he's reached the medical def. of full term) makes this seem all the more surreal! I can't help but reach down and grab my belly, and upon finding an appendage stuck out to the side and give it a little shake and think, oh how I wish you were finally here! And, yet the very next moment think how wonderful it is have him tucked away in a cute (and I use that term very loosely) and, oh, so convient carrying package, a.k.a my belly, and enjoy the last few moments of running into the store while it's raining out without worrying about dropping a baby!

I don't have any 36 week pictures, but my brother lovingly took some maternity photos last weekend while we were visiting! He did an awesome job, considering he didn't have much in the way of a photogenic subject to work with, that and we were not exactly dressed up for the occasion!

How far along? 36wks, 3 days
Total weight gain/loss: Up...a lot! 29 lbs... and I'm going to out weigh darling husband if they don't hide the halloween candy.... nom, nom, nom!!
Maternity clothes? Yep... but I have one pair of pre-pg jeans I can still wear... of course they were a little big and well, now they are a little on the tight side, but still....
Stretch marks? Still none, except the weird dry mark at the top of my belly which I refuse to call a stretch mark!
Sleep? Um... besides the bathroom breaks, it's been good. It's the waking up to get DH's lunch ready that is getting harder (darn cold weather!).
Best moments this week: DH asking me if we need to stock up on baby food when we were at the grocery store! After I asked him what for, he said, well, what's he going to eat! Hmmm, let's explain the 'where a baby gets food from' thing in a tactful way in the middle of the bread isle!! Good times!
Movement: Still favors the right side. I get really nervous when I don't feel him for awhile, so I'm constantly drinking ice water... poor guy, can't get any sleep!
Food cravings: See reference to halloween candy above and cookies below!
Gender: Boy!
Labor Signs: Starting to get some contractions! They don't really hurt, and they always go away, but nothing like a stronger than I've felt before contraction to freak a person out... that I'm really going to have a baby is inevitable!
Belly Button in or out? Still an innie...oh, but it's about stretched as flat as it can go.
What I miss: haha, wouldn't you like to know!
What I am looking forward to: He'll be full term in just three short weeks, oh, wait, make that days!!!!
Weekly Wisdom: One of my good friends (who had a baby boy this summer) told me that my salt cravings would turn to sweets cravings... she was oh, so right!
Milestones: I've walked everyday this week! That's a big one for me! Especially since all I want to do is bake cookies and sleep! And I wonder why I'm gaining weight....hah!

34 weeks and counting...

Here's the official 34 week update! Big as a barn and growing!

DH, baby C and I enjoyed an afternoon in Stillwater after our childbirth class last Saturday...

The nice Boone-Pickens Stadium that replaced the rust bucket that we used to watch football games in...

How far along? 34wks, 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: Up..22 lbs (depending on the day before's salt vs. water intake)
Maternity clothes? Yep... for a long time, now!
Stretch marks? Still waiting! I'm going to go ahead and think that they are going to appear, so I won't be so disappointed when they do show up!
Sleep? Getting harder to get comfortable between the stuffy allergy nose, the arms going to sleep and the belly!
Best moments this week: Crying in childbirth class watching the video (I didn't really cry, but I did tear up). Going to Stilly with DH.
Movement: Still a night owl, and he still doesn't like for anyone to watch him move! He also loves to stick an appendage in my right side and push as hard as he can...
Food cravings: It alternates between salty and sweet stuff, but it's staying more and more on the sweet side of the spectrum.
Gender: Boy!
Labor Signs: Still none! I love how DH thinks that the minute I call him or say that I'm having contractions that we will go immediately to the hospital.. even though I tell him it can take days!
Belly Button in or out? Still an innie...barely.
What I miss: Bending over without feeling like my stomach is going to push my lungs out of me!
What I am looking forward to: He'll be full term in just three short weeks!
Weekly Wisdom: "Women in labor are strong, stronger than you think"... this was said by the childbirth instructor when DH asked her if I hit him during labor, could he hit me back.
Milestones: Baby C weighs approx 4.5-5.5 lbs and will gain approx 1/2 lb per week until birth!

32 weeks and still no....

nesting!! I think it's a myth, or maybe it's still too early! I hope it hits soon though, because the house may be a disaster by the time Baby C arrives if my "lack of motivation" streak continues! And if the junk-food streak continues... well, let's just say having left-overs from DH's dad's birthday party this weekend (mmmm... s'mores!) has helped the belly grow.... see for yourself!!!

Here's the birthday cake... DH's dad has a brown Jeep pick-up that I was trying to recreate! Sorry it's sideways...

Double chins, fat feet...

... and they say pregnancy is beautiful! I think "they" mean being a vessel for a brand new creation from God is beautiful... not pregnancy!! Here are some more pictures... The one's in the white shirt are from a shower that DH's side of the family threw for me! We were blessed tremendously. The watermelon belly pic is from the day after the shower... I ate a lot of cake!!! And, last but not least are some nursery updates!

The grandmothers-to-be and the yummy cake!

Grandmother-to-be "practicing"

Some favor cookies I had fun making!

The watermelon belly and Baby C's crib... it was made for me by my Pappo before I was born! I'm 29+ weeks... you should see it now at 31 weeks! DH again tells me I'm going for a 20 lb watermelon!

The un-mobile, mobile!

I'm cheap... I made a curtain rod from rope!

Photo Update!

So, my mom has been busy.... she quilted this awesome OSU "bear claw" quilt for Baby C! She also made a going home outfit for Baby C... but it will only be previewed when he's here to model it... I can't wait!

Below are a couple of 28 week pics. I've been in the third (and most dragging (according to "them")) trimester for the last week. Less than 12 weeks (give or take some days), or if you are so inclined, I'm on day 197 of 280... again give or take some days...83 days left! Some fun facts as per my pregnancy calander... Baby C is approx 14 inches long and weighs 2 1/2- 2 3/4 lbs! It doesn't help that darling husband keeps teasing me that he is going weigh 20 lbs when he is born! DH's birth certificate mentions neither height nor weight, and he claims that it's because he weighed so much he broke the scale.... way to make an expanding pg lady feel good!!

Some more fun (maybe)...
How far along? 28 wks, 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: Up..17 lbs
Maternity clothes? Yep... for a long time, now!
Stretch marks? Not that I can see.. haha! I'm still debating if the spot on the upper part of my belly is just dry or a stretch mark.. It's in a weird spot!
Sleep? Not too bad... Still up to the bathroom 3-4x/night, but I'm able to get comfortable easily!
Best moment this week:Darling husband playing the name game with Baby C. He put his head on my belly and baby C only kicked with the name that DH likes... not the name that I want!!!
Movement: He's definitely a night owl!
Food cravings: Nope! Not since the first and second trimester... where I had to have grape slushes, limes and anything with salt in it!
Gender: I haven't seen him since our 16 week u/s! If the Doc says "It's a girl", then I may freak out a little!
Labor Signs:No (Thank you, God!). A few Braxton Hicks, but nothing that doesn't go away!
Belly Button in or out? Still an innie... but it's getting more shallow, so I don't know that it's gong to hold on for another 12 weeks!
What I miss: Playing softball!
What I am looking forward to: Washing the baby clothes and packing the hospital bag... I know it's way too early, so I'm holding off as long as I can!!!
Weekly Wisdom: I don't get out much, but my Mom did tell me to score a 100 on my lab tests... Unfortunately 100 isn't the best score to get on a diabetes test!!
Milestones: Baby C can open his eyes, and he has approx. 90% chance of survival without major problems if he were to enter this world today... but he can stay in the oven as long as he needs to!

99 days left...

On the countdown to 11.10.09! Baby C is growing bigger (or at least my belly is), and we go in for a check-up on Wednesday to make the "growth" official! At the last appt, my Doc just said "hmm... looks like you learned how to eat"! I wonder what he's gonna say this time around... Thank goodness for the internet strangers on thebump.com for all those weight gain posts! It definitely sheds a whole new light on the phrase "everybody is different"!

So my husband thinks I'm crazy!

But, he doesn't understand pg hormones (and the fact that my mom can't come see the nursery just any ole' time she wants...or make that, that I want)! So, here's more pictures (mom)!!!

Crib Craziness!!

Woohoo! Baby C officially has a bed that was somewhat simple to put together, despite my pregnancy brain! Thank goodness for smart husbands! Now matteress picking, believe it or not was harder than picking the crib. A trip to babies-r-us to get the mattress that I had picked out based on ratings in my well read "Baby Bargains" book was a bust... well, at least it was a bust in the sense that running in and grabbing said mattress turned into a good 30 minute- which one is better discussion that also involved a telephone call to mom! The book that has been so helpful up to this point failed to mention that the BRU in OKC does not carry that mattress! The call to mother revealed (as I could've probably guessed) that 29 years ago it didn't matter how many coils a mattress has... I slept on a garage sale bargain! Needless to say, Baby C does have a mattress, too! Now if I can find an orange crib sheet and a very waterproof matress protector, I'll be one very happy camper!

Adventures in Sewing, Part II (And 24 weeks, today)

So, I'm no Martha Stewart, but who wouldn't love orange and blue undies???? Really, who wouldn't??? And they are so soft... just hope they don't fall apart in the wash!! And in case you wondering what they are for exacly, well they go over a cloth diaper (such as a fitted- an already made diaper that looks like a disposable), assuming it's waterproof enough! Sure beats vinyl undies, so let's hope it works!

Below is darling husband's latest "purchase". He brought it home yesterday and told me he found it in a garage sale and it cost $15. I guess he was trying to get me to be upset about the price, but I was too excited about it! Sure it needs some work, but it's adorable! Needless to say, his "purchase" was really a curbside find! Can I paint it orange? That's all I wanted to know!!!

And last, but not least the my ute is the size of a soccer ball- 24 week shot! It was a self potrait. Maybe tomorrow I can convince DH to take some at the same distance as the 20 week pic to compare!
